In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.

The speech was disrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, scheduled to travel that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters delayed my talk I doubt I can make the plane we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "There. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "You are an amazing helper".

These exchanges were published on this week alongside over 20,000 pages from the records of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is withheld. The BBC has been able to establish his identity by cross-referencing the timeline, occurrences, and places referenced.

For example, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the News Xchange conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, declined to comment on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of the president's key aides in the run up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but stepped down from the administration in August 2017.

He has admitted he was producing a documentary about Epstein prior to his passing and reportedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he said: "We're going to release the film, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - early next year."

But the recently disclosed materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the convicted paedophile occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A few days before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are quite capable assistant", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Excluded".

Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you are well looked after."

UK Politics Discussed in Exchanges

The published communications also show Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in that year.

Earlier on the same day his speech at the Oxford, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit issue this morning with Nigel, Boris and Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a reference to the UK prime minister, the struggling British leader at the time, he continued: "The guys are trying to proceed. May today / tomorrow…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "In my view staying as long as you can uk. Ideal- so others get the dedication of your follow-up."

Shortly after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa May survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how BUT the people over here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to step up".

May was finally removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of lack of support in late 2018.

A representative for the political party told media: "Farage has not been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting took place.

The US House of Representatives will vote next week on whether the Department of Justice should release all its files concerning its investigation into Epstein, who died in jail in 2019.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was reignited this week after the release of more than 20,000 pages from his estate.

A portion of those mentioned the former president, who has consistently rejected any impropriety. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for years, but says they fell out in the early 2000s, two years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
