Area Police
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
